About Casino Bonus Meter

We created Casino Bonus Meter because we believed there was a more objective way to evaluate and rank casino bonuses than we were seeing from casino comparison sites. Our concept was to simulate playing through the bonuses 1000s of times to really understand how often players completed the wagering requirements with a balance greater than the initial deposit. In other words, what percentage of players were winners?

We then look at the average balance of those winning players, and factor in any maximum win terms, to determine how much of the bonus funds those winners can convert to real money. The percentage of winners and the real money win are then multiplied to determine a Sim1000x Base Score. Finally, we normalise all of the base scores to determine our Scaled Sim1000x Score for all of the bonuses we are covering in the market.

For the simulation, we use the iconic slot Cleopatra with a 95.25% RTP playing all 20 paylines at €0.20 per line (€4 per spin). Our simulation routine is based on information from Wizard of Odds and CasinoGuru. In the interest of full transparency, our simulation code is available for review and any critiques are welcome.

Our simulation calculator allows players to model other bonuses and see how they stack up against the ones we have modelled along the lines above. We hope that this approach to assessing casino bonuses is not only useful in providing users with a simple way to evaluate bonus value but also helps users gain a deeper understanding of the key terms and conditions and how they impact the bonuses value.

In the coming months we will expand our covered markets and enhance the simulation and scoring to move beyond match deposit bonuses. We hope that feedback from users will help us refine the approach and address any shortcomings in our methodology. Ultimately we want Casino Bonus Meter to be a robust objective tool that manages to capture the deep complexity of bonus mechanics while maintaining a simple scaled score for easy consumption.
